About Dusty Books
Hello, and welcome.
I’m the maker behind the books—crafted by hand, inspired by nature, and shaped by a love of traditional techniques. As a mum to a little boy, my work is rooted in the rhythm of family life and the small, meaningful moments that make it so special.
My bookbinding journey began as a creative outlet and has grown into a small business built on passion, care, and attention to detail. Each piece is thoughtfully made, with a focus on quality materials and timeless design. I’m especially inspired by the natural surroundings we’re lucky to have close by, particularly Quarry Bank Mill, a beautiful National Trust site where my family and I spend a lot of time walking with our Border Collie, Dusty. I often incorporate fabrics connected to this place, giving each book a unique sense of story and place.
Alongside bookbinding, I enjoy exploring other crafts, including crochet, paper marbling, screen printing, and photography. I’m always drawn to processes that are hands-on and a little bit experimental—there’s something special about watching an idea come to life in a physical form.. These practices influence my work and allow me to bring texture, pattern, and individuality into each piece I create.
When I’m not in my workspace, you’ll find me outdoors with my family, often exploring the Peak District. Nature is a constant source of inspiration, and that connection is something I aim to carry through into every book I make.
This business is more than just creating books—it’s about preserving craft, celebrating materials, and making something to be treasured.
